Invited Lecture at APA BioForum Conference
PI Dr. Poonam Choudhary delivered an invited lecture at the APA BioForum Conference hosted at IIT Mandi on the topic "Engineering Functional Biomaterials: From Waste-Derived Biopolymers to Hydrogel Platforms through Biomanufacturing Strategies." The presentation highlighted recent advances in sustainable biomaterial development, hydrogel engineering, and translational biomanufacturing approaches for regenerative medicine applications.
Oral Presentation at APA BIOFORUM, IIT Mandi
Hritick Gyan Verma delivered an oral presentation titled “Waste to Biomaterial: Targeted Recovery of Type I Collagen from Porcine Upper Dermis for Hydrogel Engineering” at the APA BIOFORUM held at IIT Mandi. The research, co-authored with Dr. Poonam Choudhary and Prof. Pravindra Kumar, highlights sustainable recovery methods for developing engineered hydrogels from biological waste.
Poster Presentation: Protein Isolation from Spirulina platensis
A preliminary version of our work focusing on “Isolation and functional evaluation of valuable proteins from Spirulina platensis for sustainable bioprocessing” was presented as a poster at the International Conference on Advances in Biotechnology, Bioprocessing, and Structural Biology at IIT Roorkee in 2025. The study aimed at a lab-scale economic evaluation of mechanical and alkaline extraction and comparative precipitation of proteins. The precipitates showed characteristics comparable to commercial whey protein, indicating their potential as an alternative vegan protein source.
Participation in BioSculpt UK-India Summit
PhD scholar Mr. Hritick Gyan Verma participated in the BioSculpt UK-India Summit on 3D Bioprinting and Engineering Biology held at IISc, Bangalore.
Early Career Award for Excellence in Algal Research
Dr. Poonam Choudhary won the Early Career Award for Excellence in Algal Research at the 3rd International Symposium on Advances in Algal Research (AAR 2025).

Our PhD scholars—Neha Goel, Madhu Yadav, Hritick Gyan Verma, and Rohinish Grover—alongside project student Mohammad Kaif, served as organizing volunteers at the International Conference on Advances in Biotechnology, Bioprocessing, and Structural Biology (ICABSB 2025) held at IIT Roorkee.
Third Prize for Hindi Article in 'प्रौद्योगिकीय मंथन'
PhD scholar Madhu Yadav, along with Neha Goel and PI Dr. Poonam Choudhary (Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering, IIT Roorkee), were awarded the Third Prize for their publication in the Hindi magazine 'प्रौद्योगिकीय मंथन'. Their insightful article is titled "पर्यावरण में हानिकारक शैवाल के शमन के लिए जैविक प्रणाली का अनुप्रयोग" (Application of biological systems for mitigation of harmful algae in the environment).
